THE CHALLENGE
The Stroke Foundation was aiming to have a structure and reliable data management system to collect patient data and record acute and in-hospital rehabilitation services information. They wanted to use data to inform, monitor and improve care and outcomes for stroke patients in Australia.
THE SOLUTION
Argenti built the Australia Stroke Data Tool (AuSDaT). This was a completely custom solution, allowing medical professionals to store, manage, report and share data in a flexible and reliable way. AuSDaT provided the customer with secure information sharing and a single point of data access. The solution was built using Clojure, a JVM based language with the capacity to fulfil multiple requests with excellent reliability.
THE OUTCOME
The AuSDaT platform has been in use since 2015 and provides the following benefits to stroke teams and hospital clinicians:
-
Single login to one tool that uses consistent data definitions and meets all collection, monitoring and reporting needs.
-
Significant reduction in data entry times by entering patient records only once
-
The capacity to focus on local performance monitoring to drive quality improvement
-
Real-time web-based reporting to assess performance against Clinical Guidelines and to compare the performance of hospitals and states
